DHL - German Government vs. UPS
So I heard over the weekend that the Yellow and Red shipping company DHL is a German company, financed by the German Government and has no expanded over here. Another country's government is paying for a company to come across the Atlantic and try to steal our business. That's just not right. I will never use DHL.
According to a Forbes article "UPS and FedEx fired their first volleys at Deutsche Post via their lawyers. They filed a series of complaints in Washington and Brussels, including one asking the U.S. Department of Transportation to cancel DHL's registration because DHL would use profits from its postal monopoly in Germany to engage in predatory pricing in the U.S."
According to Businessweek: "FedEx and UPS are determined to turn back the barbarians at the gate. They have repeatedly challenged Deutsche Post's moves in the U.S. on regulatory grounds, most recently petitioning the U.S. Transportation Dept. to ground DHL's airline, which was spun off earlier this year but continues to transport DHL's cargo. The Big Two claim Deutsche Post still has de facto control of the carrier, now known as ASTAR Air Cargo Inc. That's a no-no under U.S. rules, which ban a foreign company from controlling an American airline."
I am all about competition, but I don't want another country's government financing our competition.

I am a bit late, but you do know that DHL is a US founded company, later bought by Deutsche Post World Net and is now a leading logistics provider? Also Deutsche Post is not anymore a company controlled by the german government.
Truth is: UPS and FedEx both fear competition in the US market and express prices are higher in the US than they are everywhere else in the world. I am workling in the procurement field for express logistics services and do global tenders
Regardless who is the owner, their service is no service at all. If there was someone to evaluate the number of complaints they have received, they would close the company down or they would restructure.
Is there anyone out there who still cares about customer service and delivering according to the terms and conditions...
